How Matcha Can Help You Lose Weight
You may have read about it here and there, but trendy “Matcha” powder has great health and fat-burning benefits that you should not ignore.
Matcha is the Crème de la Crème of green tea. The leaves are specially selected and grown in the shade, stems and veins removed, and processed into a finely ground powder that is bright green and attractive.
You can make tea with matcha powder, or you can make protein bars as I do. It’s easy and quick (10 minutes tops), no baking required, and it’s a great workout snack.
I love it for its metabolism-boosting, antioxidant, and calorie-burning properties. Plus, it’s delicious. And don’t worry, your supermarket probably has some in the tea section. Just ask.
Because matcha is a fine powder, you actually ingest the entire tea leaf (no tea bag), and that’s great because you also ingest its full nutrient potential.

Just like red wine in moderation, matcha powder contains the sought-after “polyphenols” (antioxidants) which have been tied scientifically to fighting cardiovascular diseases, promote better blood sugar regulation, and help anti-aging. Matcha also boosts metabolism. Also, it has no calories and a significant amount of fiber, which helps with fat loss.
Really, this recipe is the easiest ever. It’s pretty much about mixing the ingredients in a bowl, and either shaping the bars with your hands or cutting them into bars.
Here is how you can use these easy-to-make bars:
- On-the-go breakfast
- Healthy snack
- In lieu of dessert
- As part of a packed lunch
- Kids’ snack
- Adventure snack (fishing, picnic, hiking, etc…)
