Work-life balance is a complete joke. We all know it, and yet everyone feels this tremendous guilt if you don’t have “work-life balance”.
You know what’s even worse than that silly phrase of work-life balance? When others around you shame you for pursuing excellence and not having work-life balance.
If you have ever been disrespected because of your decision to be a high performer, I’ve got great news for you today. You can forget about work-life balance. Instead, what you’re going to do is you’re going to join the work-life mastery movement.
What’s wrong with the age-old principle of work-life balance?
What does “work-life balance” mean? Balance means an equal weighting. When we see balance in our mind, we see a scale. We see the equal amount on each side.
That’s not how life works.
If you want to be a high performer, you are going to be out of work-life balance every single day. Do you think any professional athlete has work-life balance? Do you think any absolutely amazing superstar parent has work-life balance? My mom didn’t have work-life balance when she was raising me. That’s ridiculous, and I’m glad she didn’t.

When you have work-life mastery, you control your life. You’re not letting others dictate life to you. It’s all about control.
It’s about using my 3C formula.

- You concentrate on what counts.
You realize that you control your thoughts, words, and deeds so that you control how everything gets put in place.
Work-life mastery is not just for entrepreneurs who have a little bit more control over their schedule.
Weekly Planning for Work-Life Mastery
I want you to make a seven-day schedule.
Take a piece of paper out and draw Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday across the top. Then on the side put the hour that you’re going to get up and then go hour by hour until the hour you go to bed.
Now, you have your schedule, your weekly schedule.
- Family time
- Personal time
- Work time
- Magic time
