Death of the laptop. Apple announced today that it’s releasing a giant iPad. Pre orders for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro start on Wednesday. How much? $799. What do you get? Apple claims the new iPad Pro is faster than 80% of PCs shipped in the last year, it has an 8-megapixel camera, and four speakers for full stereo sound. For an extra $99 you can draw on your iPad Pro with Apple’s pencil, and for $170 more you can type on it with Apple’s keyboard. Two upsells that would transform your iPad into a laptop that’s as functional as most PCs. It seems clear that the traditional laptop as we know it will soon be obsolete.

The inventor of Bitcoin was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Economics. Last week, I shared a story with you in our #NOWYOUKNOW section about who is (or the lack thereof of knowledge) the inventor of the cryptocurrency Bitcoin? This is a question everyone seems to be asking, but it hasn’t stopped one UCLA professor from nominating Satoshi Nakamoto for the 2016 Nobel Prize in Economics. The professor explains his decision for the nomination here — calling the invention of Bitcoin “nothing short of revolutionary.”

Meditation gets the SoulCycle treatment. “Guests are prompted to ‘book your cushion’ online for 30- or 45-minute sessions led by one of 23 experts, whose practices range from Vedic to Kundalini to Theravada.” says Vogue. Mindfulness and meditation studios are the next boutique gyms.

Earbuds are one of those technologies that still come loaded with annoyances. Cheap ones are almost always bad, with a terrible fit and atrocious sound. Expensive ones offer better sound quality, but often times they can fit just as poorly as the $10 or $20 pair they’re meant to replace. But a new company called Revols has just launched a Kickstarter project that promises to change this, offering the luxury of custom-fit Bluetooth earbuds for about $200, all while compressing a typically months-long process into 60 seconds.
