Accepting The Process Of Change

“Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it.

Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.

Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do.

As soon as you trust yourself, you will know how to live.”

I love when I write an article and find that I am coaching myself right alongside you. The past few weeks we’ve been diving into the concepts of change – how to set goals, how to create a growth mindset, and how to develop an effective daily routine. As I have written I have also pondered, applied, dreamed, freaked out and then re-grouped and taken more baby steps toward my own dreams just as you have.

In this, the fourth and final article in this series on creating change, we’ll look at how to accept the process. The initial aspects of change elicit a mixture of excitement and hope with a dash of totally terrified for good measure. But right there in the mix is this electric current of motivation that keeps you moving toward your dream.

So what happens when you’re well into the process and you simply begin to get frustrated by the day-to-day grind?

There’s one critical action you must take whenever you feel stuck in the process of change – I do this and you will need to as well:

Remember Your Why

Your why reminds you that no matter how tough the day to day steps of change may be you have a bigger yes burning inside that is worth fighting for.

Once you’ve re-ignited that flame remind yourself that you are in the process of learning and growing. The most growth occurs during the toughest trials – embracing this truth while you’re in it is a skill. And it can be developed.

Your mindset determines your success and developing your growth mindset is exactly what you are doing when you push through tough times. You must believe that your most basic abilities are being developed into the skills that will help you achieve your life goals – one day at a time.

With this refreshed perspective on your journey you can now take an objective look at your current routine. Remember a daily routine offers guidance on what to do in order to achieve your long-term goals and it’s only effective at helping you do this if it’s still empowering you day in and day out.

If you’re struggling or feeling stagnant, it’s a welcome sign that it is time to reassess your process.

Is your daily routine still congruent with your vision?

By asking this you may actually discover you’ve made more progress that you thought. You may recognize that your current routine no longer serves simply because you’re ready for more! The next phase of reaching that goal of yours may require just one simple shift or a series of them. But how will you know if you don’t take time to stop and assess where you are in the process?

change impossible to the possible

The final piece to this is to appreciate every step of the way, which can be hard. But the coolest thing about life is there is no lack of things to be grateful for each day. Gratitude fosters your personal growth, leading to the development and display of your best self.

In this way you can have peace of mind knowing that feeling frustrated or stuck is just a part of the process, too – and if you’re willing to see it as your greatest opportunity for growth it can be the most impactful part of your journey to successfully realizing your vision for change.

In Love & Gratitude,
