The 7 Most Important Words in Sales

“Enter the Conversation in the Prospect’s Mind”

When you can do this, your sales and marketing become more effective…

Because your prospect feels understood.

When they feel understood by someone, they like and trust that person more.

When someone knows, likes, and trusts you, they are much more likely to buy from you.

For example…

Most of our clients are here because I entered the conversation in your mind…

One day you were scrolling Instagram or Facebook.

It was probably the end of a long day (or week)…

You were feeling overwhelmed and scrolling to “relax”

But part of your brain was thinking about all the work you had to do tomorrow morning.

One of my ads popped up…

It talked about how…

“If you’re scrolling because you’re overwhelmed, and you want to get more done, then you need to stop your long morning routine and use this simple 15 minute routine instead. It’s so easy that it even worked for a drunk farmer.”

Now I’m sure “drunk farmers” were not part of your internal dialogue prior to seeing my ad, haha.

But the rest of what I said in my ads “hit the mark”.

I caught your Attention.

I talked about your Interest.

I stimulated Desire.

I convinced you to Act.

AIDA – Attention, Interest, Desire, Action

That’s the AIDA formula of copywriting.

When you combine AIDA with entering the conversation in the prospect’s mind…

Through your social media posts, advertisements, email newsletters, etc…

That’s when you breakthrough to the customer and get them to buy.

This is all part of copywriting.

Still not convinced?

I have more to say on the subject!

People always ask me how to get rich.

There are so many options hyped up on social media these days.

·       Day trader? Chained to your computer during trading hours.

·       High Ticket Phone Sales? Chained to your calendar links.

·       CEO of a big company? Always on a plane… private jet sure, but always away.

·       Professional Speaker? Living out of hotels & airports

·       Lawyer? Taking calls 24/7

·       Writing books? Lol. There’s no money in just writing books. (Another story for another day)

So what then is the best way to make a lot of money without sacrificing your freedom?

Copywriting is my weapon of choice.

Don’t get me wrong…

You’re still going to work when you use copywriting… it’s simple, but not easy.

BUT…

You control the hours, your coffee breaks, your cut-off times…

You pick your “office”…

(I’m writing from Lucky’s donut shop in Vancouver while sipping one of their excellent cappuccino’s and eating a donut – what type? I’ll leave that to your imagination. )

Copywriting is a skill that transfers to every aspect of your life…

From writing sales letters, video scripts and emails to make money…

To writing love letters, Tinder profiles, romantic DM’s, and apology notes in your love life.

(FACT: I used copywriting techniques to woo my wife Michelle on Instagram – that’s where we met in 2019 just before the pandemic… in two weeks we went from strangers to knowing we had found “the one”… and I would testify under oath that copywriting played a huge role in winning her love!)

Copywriting will help you with your kid’s fundraisers, get more people to your events at church, and even convince people to vote for you.

Yes, love him or loathe him, Trump’s 2016 slogan, “Make America Great Again” is one of the greatest examples ever of copywriting in the English language.

All he needed was four words to change the course of history.

(Don’t shoot the messenger… I’m just relaying a Fact!)

That’s the power of persuasion in print through the written word.

Other examples:

·       Just Do It

·       Four Hour Work Week.

·       The Happiest Place on Earth

·       Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend

·       An Apple A Day Keeps the Doctor Away

·       Men Are From Mars, Women are From Venus

These are all phrases that might be burned into your mind as they are in mine.

Phrases that persuaded millions of people to make a change in their life.

Just imagine what copywriting can do for your business.

Yes, copywriting works for trades (plumbers, etc.) – memorable quotes for your business cards and the sides of your work vans… that lead to more calls to your company.

Yes, copywriting works for personal trainers and coaches – helping you differentiate and standout in a sea of competition, so you attract clients

Yes, copywriting works for book titles, course names, etc.

Look at Millionaire Morning Routine, Social Story Selling, Effortless Discipline, Perfect Day Formula, and whatever other course and book title I created that brought you here!

Yes, copywriting works for pastors, chefs, YouTubers, lawyers, doctors, teachers, journalists, accountants and bookkeepers, and even the Army.

(Fun Fact: Earl Carter working for the N. W. Ayer Advertising Agency as a Senior Copywriter created the “Be All You Can Be” theme line in 1980 that the Army used for 40 years.)

If you are trying to convince anyone to do anything, you need to learn copywriting!

You are living proof that copywriting works… because it was copywriting that brought you into my world.

My ideas … communicated via simple words …

Got your Attention

Piqued your Interest

Stimulated your Desire

Caused you to ACT

AIDA!
